Dreadlock installation in Lisbon
We start from zero: your natural hair turned into handmade dreadlocks, one at a time, with a crochet needle. No wax, no glue, no chemicals — just technique and time.

How we work
Before we touch your hair, we talk. We look at your texture, length, the condition of your scalp and what you have in mind — many thin locks or a few thick ones, a defined parting or a free one, a tight root or a looser one.
The installation is done with the crochet needle technique: hair is worked into itself until each lock is compact, closed and finished at the tip. It needs no wax and no chemicals at all, and the result is stable from day one — you leave the studio with dreadlocks, not with a work in progress.
How many locks?
The number of locks defines almost everything: volume, weight, session length and future maintenance. A few thick locks give a more tribal look and are quicker to maintain; many thin locks give more movement and more styling options but take more hours.
We help you decide based on your hair and your daily life — there is no right number, only the right number for you.
After the session
You leave with clear guidance: how to wash (yes, you can and should wash them), how often, how to dry properly so no moisture is trapped, and what to avoid in the first weeks.
After two to four months, root growth calls for a first maintenance. From then on it is a calm rhythm — roughly two to four times a year.
Frequently asked questions
Does it hurt?
It should not. You feel the pull at the roots, especially in the first hours, and we take breaks whenever you need. If any area gets sensitive we adjust the tension.
Will I have to cut my hair?
No. Installation uses the hair you already have. Locks end up slightly shorter than loose hair because hair compacts — we account for that when planning.
Can I undo them?
Young locks made without chemicals can be taken apart with patience, and we do that work. The longer they exist, the more the hair closes and the harder it gets.
